Catechesis (aka Confirmation) Junior High Catechesis is for the purpose of training young people in the basics of the historic Christian faith as expressed through Scripture and The Small Catechism of Martin Luther (1530).
The Six Chief Parts of the Small Catechism are: - The Ten Commandments - The Apostles' Creed - The Lord's Prayer - The Sacrament of Holy Baptism - Confession and the Office of the Keys - The Sacrament of the Altar
Other topics that are taught include: - The beauty and meaning of Divine Service - The distinction between Law and Gospel
Students are eligible to begin instruction in the 7th grade. Class sessions are held on Sundays at 6:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary, September through April. Students must complete 2 years of catechesis to be eligible for Confirmation. Students also serve as acolytes in Divine Services.
